Our Story

How Rattana Works came to be.

Rattana Works was established in Bangkok after a number of years working inside large consulting engagements that often moved faster than the organisations they served. The founding observation was a straightforward one: technology change tends to hold better when the pace is set by the people doing the work, not the people advising on it.

The practice was built around a small number of service offerings — deliberately so. A readiness review. A roadmap engagement. A longer advisory partnership. Each is designed to meet an organisation where it currently stands, rather than where a consultant would prefer it to be.

Our client base is drawn primarily from Thai SMEs and mid-market firms in Khlong Toei and across the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, with some engagements in the provinces. We work in English and Thai, and we are comfortable with the particular texture of how Thai organisations make decisions about technology.

The name reflects a disposition more than a brand. Rattana — meaning gem or precious stone in Thai — suggests something that has taken time to form and that holds its value. Works, simply, because the work is what matters.

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to.

Client Confidentiality

All engagement materials, session notes, and client data are treated as confidential. We do not reference client names or situations without explicit written permission.

Vendor Independence

We hold no commercial arrangements with software vendors or technology providers. Our observations on technology options are not influenced by referral relationships.

Written Agreements

Every engagement begins with a written scope agreement that defines deliverables, timeline, and fee. Scope changes are documented and agreed before work proceeds.

Regular Communication

Progress is communicated in writing at regular intervals. We flag uncertainties and open questions as they arise rather than presenting only completed conclusions.

Data Protection

We handle client data in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and maintain appropriate practices around storage, access, and deletion.

Honest Assessment

We share observations as observations, not conclusions. Where the evidence supports a clear view, we state it clearly. Where it does not, we say so.

Our Approach

Technology advisory for Thai organisations.

Digital change in Thai SMEs tends to follow a different pattern from what Western advisory frameworks anticipate. Decisions move through consensus and relationship rather than formal governance structures. Technology investments are often shaped by the personal networks of senior leadership rather than by formal procurement processes. The regulatory environment — including PDPA compliance, SEC requirements for financial firms, and sector-specific digital reporting — adds layers that require local familiarity.

Rattana Works was shaped by these realities from the start. The engagements are structured to fit how Thai organisations actually make decisions, rather than how they are supposed to according to a framework developed elsewhere. Working sessions are conducted in English or Thai — whichever the leadership team finds more comfortable — and written deliverables can be provided in either language.

The practice focuses on three areas: understanding where an organisation currently stands with respect to digital ways of working (the readiness review); building a considered, maintainable plan for technology investment over two to three years (the roadmap engagement); and accompanying a leadership team through a substantive programme of change over nine to twelve months (the advisory partnership). Each is designed to produce something the client can use independently after the engagement concludes.
